Job Description

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure the hotel is safe, functional, and in good condition. This position responds to work orders, troubleshoots basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, and supports overall property upkeep according to brand and company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to guest room and public area maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.

  • Perform basic repairs in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance (e.g., unclog drains, replace light bulbs, repair locks, fix toilets, reset breakers, patch walls, touch-up paint).

  • Complete preventive maintenance on guest rooms and equipment following the hotel’s PM schedule and checklists.

  • Inspect and maintain mechanical equipment, tools, and systems as directed (e.g., boilers, pumps, air handlers, laundry and kitchen equipment).

  • Assist with maintenance of pool, spa, and fitness areas (if applicable), following chemical and safety procedures.

  • Maintain all maintenance and storage areas clean, safe, and organized.

  • Log and close work orders accurately; report any recurring issues or larger problems to the supervisor or Chief Engineer.

  • Assist with fire and life safety systems checks as required by hotel procedures and local regulations.

  • Support room out-of-order and renovation projects as assigned (moving furniture, installing fixtures, etc.).

  • Follow all safety, security, and lockout/tagout procedures when working with equipment and electrical systems.

  • Communicate effectively with front desk, housekeeping, and management regarding room status and maintenance needs.

  • Assist with snow removal, exterior cleaning, and groundskeeping as needed (if applicable).

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
