Job Description

We are hiring a CNC Machine Operator (CNC Router) for our client in Mississauga.

CNC Machine Operator is responsible for supporting a very active mill shop in production of cabinets, counters and their components.

Joining mill shop team means you will use your knowledge to ensure you are properly following shop drawings with high attention to detail and accountability to source answers for anything unclear. Operate CNC and conventional lathes, mills, vertical machining center, saws and other mill shop machinery to produce quality products as specified on work orders and drawings.

The person we seek must have the desire to learn about our products to fully understand how accuracy plays an important role in this position. This job is in a fast-paced environment, where a quick learner could demonstrate advancement with the team.

The incumbent should look to provide ideas on how to improve processes in a strong continuous improvement environment and assist to build a best-in-class product for positive customer satisfaction.

Shift: 7:30 am to 4 pm.

Pay rate: $23-$24 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Program/Setup and operate CNC router
  • Assemble cabinet components according to shop drawings
  • Use inspection, measure and test equipment to assure all dimensions and tolerances as specified on drawings and work orders are met
  • Ensure fittings and other components are of good quality
  • Attach fittings and other components to finished cabinetry
  • Install hardware such as knobs and hinges
  • Maintain accuracy by measuring parts at all stages of machining and assembly
  • Facilitates material movement into and out of facility during installation pick up
  • Adheres to and ensures safe work practices
  • Maintaining a tidy and safe workplace
  • Trim, smooth, and shape surfaces
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of recognized skills program for wood working technology, CNC or cabinet making
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant mill shop experience including programing and operating CNC router
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Motivated and self-driven to accomplish time sensitive goals
  • Able to work with others, receive instructions as a team player
  • Basic math skills
  • Understanding of Health and Safety awareness.
  • Ability to multi-task and learn quickly with minimal supervision
  • Regular and consistent on time attendance is required
  • Accountable and responsible
  • Excellent attention to detail

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking and standing with occasional sitting
  • Lifting 40 lbs regularly unassisted
  • Good manual dexterity for tool operation

Work Environment

  • Interaction with store planning team on-site
  • High noise levels and moving machinery
  • Work environment is subject to dust, high/low temperatures
