The Role: As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Surgical Extended Daycare Unit, you will provide specialized care to patients undergoing surgical procedures requiring extended monitoring and recovery. You will support patients through pre-operative preparation, intra-operative assistance, and extended post-operative care, ensuring a safe and comprehensive recovery process.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and educate patients for surgical procedures, including pre-operative assessments and positioning.

• Monitor and document patient vital signs, anesthesia effects, and post-operative recovery during extended care periods.

• Provide extended post-operative care, including managing pain, monitoring for complications, and ensuring patient stability.

• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

• Educate patients and their families on post-surgical care, medications, and recovery plans prior to discharge.

• Maintain adherence to infection control standards and ensure a sterile environment throughout the care process.

• Support patient transitions to discharge or inpatient care as required, ensuring all clinical documentation is accurate.

Requirements:

• Current, unrestricted RN license in your province.

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in Canada, preferably in a surgical or extended care setting.

• ACLS and BLS Certifications.

• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, extended recovery protocols, and patient education techniques.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

• Ability to manage multiple patients in a fast-paced environment while providing compassionate care.
