The Role: As a Licensed Practical Nurse in an Acute Medical unit, you will deliver compassionate and efficient care to patients with acute medical conditions. Working under the direction of RNs and physicians, you will play a vital role in supporting patients' recovery and ensuring their comfort and safety.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care, including monitoring vital signs, wound care, and administering medications as prescribed.
Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Observe, record, and report changes in patients' conditions to the appropriate team members.
Support patients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
Foster a safe and sterile environment by adhering to infection control and workplace safety protocols.
Educate patients and families about treatment plans and post-discharge care.
Requirements:
Completion of an approved Practical Nursing program.
Current, unrestricted LPN license in your province or state.
Minimum of 2 years of Canadian nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred.
Certification in BLS; additional certifications are an asset.
Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
Proficiency in electronic health records and familiarity with medical technologies.
