Job Description

Job Summary

The Houseman / Houseperson supports the Housekeeping department by maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of hotel public areas and by delivering supplies, linen, and equipment to room attendants and other staff. This position helps ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain public areas, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, restrooms, and back-of-house areas.

  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, polish, and empty trash in assigned areas.

  • Remove trash and recyclables from guest floors and public areas to designated disposal areas.

  • Replenish supplies in public restrooms and public areas (toilet paper, soap, paper towels, tissues, etc.).

  • Deliver clean linen, towels, and amenities to room attendants and housekeeping closets.

  • Collect and transport soiled linen and trash bags from floors to the designated laundry or trash area.

  • Set up and break down rollaway beds, cribs, and extra items in guest rooms upon request.

  • Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and other items as needed (e.g., deep cleaning, special projects).

  • Maintain housekeeping storage areas, closets, and hallways clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.

  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual situations to the supervisor immediately.

  • Follow all safety, security, and sanitation procedures, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

  • Provide friendly and professional assistance to guests when approached, referring them to the front desk when necessary.

  • Support the housekeeping team with special cleaning projects and other duties as assigned.
