E-Commerce Accountant
Job Type: Full-Time
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Pacific Time, with a 1-hour break
Salary: $1,200 per month
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven E-Commerce Accountant to manage end-to-end accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for an e-commerce and wholesale business. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, timely processing of invoices and payments, reconciliation of e-commerce and marketplace transactions, and support for general accounting activities. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience in e-commerce accounting environments, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable (AP)
Process vendor invoices, obtain appropriate management approvals, match invoices to purchase orders, and ensure accurate coding
Reconcile transactions across multiple online client portals and accounts
Track, analyze, and reconcile both simple and complex transactions
Schedule payments using open bill payment reports and manage vendor relationships
Reconcile vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and provide analytical insights for resolution
Maintain financial security by adhering to internal controls and safeguarding financial records
Prepare and analyze monthly and year-to-date department expense and budget variance reports
Accounts Receivable (AR)
Generate and distribute customer invoices and statements
Upload invoices to customer portals
Prepare daily deposit reports by importing settlements, applying customer payments, and monitoring aging reports
Contact delinquent accounts to secure payment and resolve billing issues
Reconcile payments from e-commerce and marketplace channels, apply payments accurately, and identify discrepancies
Monitor collections, reporting, and account reconciliations
General Accounting Support
Respond to inquiries from vendors and customers in a timely and professional manner
Prepare and assist with sales tax returns
Provide backup support for other accounting personnel as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Minimum of three years of related experience; e-commerce and wholesale sales experience strongly preferred
Experience in an accounting ERP system required; NetSuite and/or Oracle experience is highly preferred
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and online marketplaces; experience with Amazon Seller Central is strongly preferred
