The Role: As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Surgical Daycare - Outpatient Clinic, you will provide specialized care to patients undergoing day surgeries and minor surgical procedures. You will play a pivotal role in pre-operative preparation, intra-operative assistance, and post-operative recovery to ensure a safe and seamless patient experience.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and coordination of day surgical procedures, including patient education, positioning, and maintaining a sterile field.
Monitor and document patient vital signs, responses to anesthesia, and recovery progress.
Provide post-operative care, including managing pain, assessing for complications, and preparing patients for discharge.
Educate patients and their families about post-surgical care instructions, medications, and follow-up appointments.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the healthcare team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Ensure adherence to infection control standards and maintain a sterile, safe environment throughout the care process.
Participate in pre-operative assessments, including health history and preparation checks.
Requirements:
Current, unrestricted RN license in your province.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in Canada, preferably in an outpatient surgical setting.
ACLS and BLS Certifications.
Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and outpatient recovery protocols.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Ability to multitask and provide care in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated commitment to compassionate and efficient patient care.
