The Role: As a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Surgical Unit, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Whether assisting in the operating room or providing pre- and post-operative care, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and coordination of surgical procedures, including patient positioning, sterile field management, and instrument preparation.
Monitor and document patient vital signs, responses to anesthesia, and overall condition during surgery.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including wound care, pain management, and monitoring for complications.
Educate patients and families about surgical procedures, recovery processes, and follow-up care.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Adhere to infection prevention protocols and maintain a sterile environment in the operating and recovery areas.
Support patients' emotional and physical well-being throughout their surgical journey.
Requirements:
Current, unrestricted RN license in your province or current, unrestricted LPN license in your province.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in Canada, preferably in a surgical or perioperative setting.
ACLS and BLS Certifications.
Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and post-operative care.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
