The Role: As a Home Care Health Care Aide (HCA), you will provide essential personal care and support services to clients in their homes, enabling them to maintain independence and quality of life. You will work closely with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure a safe, comfortable, and compassionate care environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist clients with personal care tasks, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
Provide nutritional support, including meal preparation, feeding assistance, and monitoring dietary needs.
Observe and document changes in clients' health, behavior, or needs, reporting concerns to supervisors or healthcare professionals.
Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), promoting independence where possible.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by following infection control measures and ensuring the proper use of equipment and supplies.
Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a respectful and positive relationship.
Requirements:
Completion of an approved HCA Certificate/Diploma program from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 2 years of Health Care Aide experience in Canada, preferably in home care or community settings.
Experience with dementia care, developmental disabilities, or complex behavioral needs is an asset.
Strong ability to prioritize tasks and organize care in a dynamic, client-focused environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Compassionate, patient-centered approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
