Job Summary
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring guest rooms and public areas are cleaned and maintained according to hotel and company standards. This position supervises room attendants and housemen, trains staff, inspects rooms, and supports the Executive Housekeeper in meeting quality, productivity, and guest satisfaction goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise, support, and motivate room attendants, housemen/housepersons, and other housekeeping staff during the shift.
Assign daily room boards and work lists, ensuring fair and efficient workload distribution.
Conduct room inspections (check-outs and stay-overs) to verify cleanliness, condition, and compliance with hotel standards.
Follow up on deficiencies and ensure rooms are corrected and released for sale promptly.
Train new employees on cleaning procedures, safety, use of chemicals and equipment, and hotel policies.
Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to staff to improve quality and productivity.
Assist with cleaning rooms or public areas when needed to support the operation.
Monitor linen usage and inventory; report shortages and irregularities.
Ensure housekeeping carts, closets, and back-of-house areas are clean, organized, and safe.
Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, complaints, and room issues.
Communicate maintenance issues (engineering work orders) and follow up on completion.
Verify that lost and found items are handled and documented according to hotel policy.
Help create and maintain schedules and timekeeping accuracy (attendance, breaks, clock-in/out).
Enforce safety, security, and sanitation procedures at all times.
Participate in daily/weekly meetings with management and provide updates on department status.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Housekeeper or management.
