Job Description

The Role: As a Registered Nurse in an Acute Medical unit, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with complex and acute medical conditions. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for patients, ensuring their safety, comfort, and optimal recovery.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, emotional, and social health status.

  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and other treatments as prescribed, adhering to safety and infection control protocols.

  • Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, lab results, and diagnostic tests, promptly reporting any changes to the care team.

  • Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with physicians, allied health professionals, and families.

  • Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care instructions.

  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and interventions.

  • Contribute to a safe and supportive environment by adhering to best practices and hospital policies.

 

Requirements:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

  • Current, unrestricted RN license in your province or state.

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting.

  • Certifications in BLS and ACLS; additional certifications (e.g., PALS or specialty-specific) are an asset.

  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering collaboration and patient trust.

  • Proficiency in electronic health records and medical technologies.
