Job Description

The Role: As a Registered Nurse in the Med/Surg, ER, and Obstetrics (OBS) units, you will deliver compassionate and comprehensive patient care in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients with acute medical conditions as well as those requiring obstetric care.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rapid assessments to determine the urgency and severity of injuries or illnesses in both emergency and obstetric settings.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by physicians or advanced practice providers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, lab results, and diagnostic tests with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients across Med/Surg, ER, and OBS.
  • Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain a safe and sterile environment for patients and staff, following infection control standards and safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted RN license in your province.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in ER, Med/Surg, and Obstetric settings.
  • BLS, ACLS, NRP, CTAS, and PALS certifications are required.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
